Sledging and winter walks in the Zillertal Arena
Grab your sledge hired from the Farm Resort, stamp through the snowy forests and speed back down again just like in the olden days, eyes wide with excitement... Winter delights to warm the heart! The white snowy meadows and forests look quiet and peaceful. Our footprints are the only evidence left behind once our red cheeks beneath our thick hats have passed by.
“I love to go for winter walks in the Wimmertal valley, right opposite the Farm Resort. The Gerlostal valley has five tributary valleys. It looks simply captivating beneath its winter cloak.”
Sledging & Winter Walks
Beyond the ski resort, you can enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the mountain winter
Only available here! The longest toboggan run in Zillertal starts out from the Gerlossteinbahn cable car at 1,650m. It’s an amazing 7 km journey back on your sledge - you can either take the sporty approach and do it all in one go or stop off for a refreshment break at some of the traditional lodges along the way. The toboggan run is lit until 1.00 am.
Open the door and off you go: a romantic winter trail into the Wimmertal valley right opposite the Farm Resort. After a brief incline, you then follow a leisurely trail over the wide and snow-covered Alpine meadows with views of the Wechselspitze and Mitterjoch in sight until you reach the Wimmertalalm snack station for a welcome refreshment break after about an hour. Gourmet tip: the Viennese schnitzel!
You can explore the next picturesque tributary valley along the Schwarzachtal. The walk starts off gently uphill until you reach the Schwarzachalm. Get cosy with a cocoa or tea before organising a snowball fight on the way back down again.
If you are seeking tranquillity and an unspoilt natural environment, you will find what you are looking for in the Schönachtal valley. It is just as beautiful as its name suggests! The views of the valley bottom with the Schönachkee Glacier (3,000m) are a welcome chance to stop and forget all about the world around you.
